KAIROS Get Involved

What do volunteers do in KAIROS?

KAIROS focuses on creating Christian communities within prison and does this through the implementation of three key elements that volunteers participate in.

The Weekend: The Weekend is conducted in an institution by a team of volunteers of the same gender as the institution. The Team begins on Thursday evening and ends with a spirit-filled Closing on Sunday. It is only the "starting point" as the Participants are guided through the steps of understanding the Christian life.

Reunions: Volunteers and former KAIROS program alumni gather together periodically for one-day reunions to reinforce the Christian teaching established during the initial KAIROS Weekend experience and encourage new believers as they continue to grow in their faith.

Prayer and ShareAs Christian communities begin to form in the institution, KAIROS volunteers support these groups by hosting "prayer and share" meetings inside the prison each month. These are essentially models of what we know as Lifegroups and are places where authentic Christian fellowship, accountability, and discipleship occur.
